The majority of gold produced in Canada has come from deposits hosted within Archean greenstone belts. One of the most famous
of these gold mining districts is the Abitibi Greenstone Belt (AGB), extending across northern Ontario and Québec. Dozens of
rich gold deposits have been successfully mined within this corridor and new discoveries have been made to the present.
